Painter, printmaker, and stained glass artist Heinrich Campendonk was born in Krefeld, Germany on November 3, 1889. He originally intended to be a textile designer, studying at the Fachschule fur Textilindustrie and the Kunstgewerbeschule in Krefeld from 1905-9.
