Object Description
French Rococco style. A four-footed square stand is decorated with applied 3-dimensional flowers on the feet and painted flowers in the flat spaces. The top of the stand has a round depression fitted with a piece of velvet adhered to the surface. This depression fits the foot of the urn. The urn has a round foot that tapers inward as it rises to the body; it is adorned with 3D and painted flowers. The body then widens to a roughly oval shape. The scene on one side of the body is a young man and two young ladies in a garden landscape. All three wear stylish, costly clothing. The taller girl holds a rose in her right hand. The scene on the opposite side of the urn is assorted flowers. Two large ram heads at opposite sides on the shoulder of the urn serve as handles. The shoulder tapers into a sloping round neck adorned with flowers and a round opening adorned with a decorative geometric pattern in gold. The lid has a short unglazed bottom that fits inside the opening of the urn. The body of the lid is round and pierced, with floral motifs around the pierced openings. A large 3-dimensional group of roses and leaves adorns the top of the lid.
