Commentary
Charges Conspiracy in Son's Death: The father of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said Friday that he is convinced his son was slain in a conspiracy that may have involved other blacks. Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr. made the remarks in a speech at the opening of a three-day conference marking the 20th anniversary of the Montgomery Bus Boycott that launched the Civil Rights Movement led by his son, Montgomery, Alabama.

Martin Luther King, Sr. (1899-1984) was an American Baptist pastor and missionary. He was an early figure in the Civil Rights Movement. He was the father of Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr.

Materials
Wire photographs were originally transmitted over phonelines, then later, by satellite. They were first used in the early 1920s. Associated Press became a leader with this. After pigment touch-ups, etc., the print is put into a drum (like a drum scanner). The image gets converted into audio tones that are transmitted. The tones are received and beamed onto photo-sensitive paper. Wire photographs are copies without originals---they are hybrid, transmitted objects.
