Commentary
Bank Picketed Over Segregation Issue: four black and two white people claiming to be from Savannah, Georgia march in front of the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York's financial district. The pickets say they are protesting the bank's purchase of City of Savannah bonds, which support segregation. A bank spokesman said the bank had not purchased these bonds in more than ten years, but has acted as "paying agents" on bonds purchased by clients in 1960.

Materials
Wire photographs were originally transmitted over phonelines, then later, by satellite. They were first used in the early 1920s. Associated Press became a leader with this. After pigment touch-ups, etc., the print is put into a drum (like a drum scanner). The image gets converted into audio tones that are transmitted. The tones are received and beamed onto photo-sensitive paper. Wire photographs are copies without originals---they are hybrid, transmitted objects.
