Apinani frequently appeared in Zaragoza and Madrid between 1750 and 1770. In this extraordinary, freeze frame image, Goya shows him vaulting gracefully over the bull's horns. The shadow of bull and man are sharply outlined against the almost blinding sunlight that floods the ring.
