Commentary
Although the title implies that the matador here is Martincho (the subject of Plates 15, 18, and 19), Goya's handwritten tilte-- El famso Mamon--suggests otherwise. Pedro de la Cruz, known as "El Mamon," was a favorite of the mid-18th century bullring. His speciality was seizing a bull by the tail, as Goya shows him here, and then mounting it.
