Restricted hemispherical basket with a flat base. Made of coiled construction. Black and tan plant-like designs on buff.

Deer grass, juncus, and sumac
Commentary
The Cahuilla basket maker Ramona, who worked in the late 1880s and early 1900s, was immortalized in Helen Hunt Jackson's 1884 novel of the same name. She did not begin this basket using the traditional sumac as the wrapping material, but she did use it for the background of the design.
