See "The Fred Harvey Collection," the Heard Museum.

See R. Conn report (1978).

The decorative arts of the southern Plains as demonstrated by this pipebag, were distinguished by a fine fringe and a painted hide background. The bag has an unusually large amount of beading on its front and back; southern Plains peoples originally used beadwork musch more sparingly than those of the northern Plains. Found throughout native American sacred imagery, the bird motif beaded on the belt may derive from a personal vision of the make or the wearer.
