Ovoid jar with double spouts connected by a buff bridge handle. Red on buff. Two horizontal geometric horned toads on the red body. Sacaton phase.

Buff clay and slip, and red paint

Provenance
Site: 10 miles SW of Phoenix, Arizona.

Marks
A piece of white cloth tape is affixed to the underside. Handwritten in graphite or faded black ink, it reads, "10 miles / South West - / Phoenix".

Commentary
Sacaton red-on-buff style. Vessels with double spouts, a Mesoamerican influence, occur occasionally in Hohokam ceramics. The negative design of this double-spouted jar represents a horned toad, a motif used throughout the history of Hohokam painting.
