Commentary
The Yellow Corn Maiden Kachina decorates this wicker basket, distinguished by a yellow face and long hari. Basketry trays are used in the kiva, an underground ceremonial chamber, to hold sacred pollen and prayer sticks, or they may be carried by kackina dancers. -from the Native American Art from the Permanent Collection catalog, 1976
