Commentary
The red in the designs decorating this basket was obtained with analine dye. Atypically, the basket was made by a man; traditioanlly among the Cahuilla, only older women and young girls produced baskets. In other respects, the basket follows traditional techniques and uses traditional materials. -from the Native American Art from the Permanent Collection catalog, 1979
