Hemispherical basket with rounded base. Coiled construction. Black on buff. Basket divided into four segments by frets. Each is decorated with crosses, a chevron and an anthropomorphic figure.

Commentary
Designs with human figures, crosses and crescents--as in this piece--can be attributed to a religious movement amoung the Western Apache in the early 1900s. use of the sacred number four, or multiples of four, is unusual in Apache art. -from the Native American Art from the Permanent Collection catalog, 1976
