Two pieces of soft buckskin sewn together. Top section is dyed yellow with a beaded band, and the skirt section has two rows of beaded fringe. Beaded band and heavy fringe on bottom. Good example of South Plains style.

Commentary
Cheyenne dress construction and ornamentation conformed to strict traditional patterns. The yoke of this dress is painted yellow with natural pigment, evoking the color of the Sun. Three horizontal bands of beadwork also decorate the yoke, one across the shoulders, and the others across the back and front. In general, rows of buckskin fringe, arranged in pairs, were topped with wrapped quills, but by 1880 the quills had been replaced by large beads. Thin bands of beadwork, natural red pigment, and tin cones on the bottom edge complete the costume.
