Commentary
In Plateau bags of most recent date, like this c. 1910 example, all of the design elements are produced with commercial yarn. Many colors are used, and they tend to be very bright. The eight-pointed star decorates one face of this bag, and a four-pointed star with what may be a duck motif enriches the other face.

Bibliography
Kay Koeninger and Joanne M. Mack, "Native American Art from the Permanent Collection" (Claremont: Galleries of the Claremont Colleges, 1979), 85 (illustrated/bw) fig. 290.

Marks
A piece of paper inside the bag is handwritten in black ink. It reads: "ANGLE / PLATEAU / (NEZ PERCE?)".
