Chief's feather headdress. A leather headband has brown and white feathers hanging down the back and forming an arch up and over the back of the head and over the wearer's shoulders. Amber-colored horsehair "tassels" are tied to the ends of 8 of these large feathers. Multiple ribbons hang from either side of the headband. The ribbons are gold, black and red. Each ribbon is attached to the leather headband with a metal rivet. One long leather thong hangs down from each side of the headband with the ribbons. The front of the headband has a narrow beadwork strip across it. A floral pattern on red ground with a white border is worked in tiny round beads. The base of each long feather on the headdress is wrapped in rawhide, with black thread and short red feathers attached. A black fabric panel hangs down the back, with 3 zigzag stripes in red and pink. The panel is wool on the body side and silk facing outward. The panel is finished with four short red feathers and three long dark feathers at bottom.
