Tall, rectangular landscape painted on pale olive silk, with a patterned creme silk border. A small hut sits on a finger of land in the foreground, with a lake extending around it. Further into the middle there are three men in a boat. At middle distance, the lake widens, and another finger of land at right has another building. In the far distance at top, a tall mountain peak rises. In the upper left corner of the image is an inscription in black. Two rows of text have two small red stamps below the left row. Two more small red stamps are over the landform in the bottom left corner of the image. The silk border is wider at top and bottom than it is at left and right. Framed and glazed.

Marks
A paper label affixed to the back of the frame is typed, "LANDSCAPE by LAN YING / Lan Ying (1585 - c. 1664) is / traditionally called the last / representative of the 'Che School' / of landscape painting at Hangchou, / Chekiang Province. / Ming Dynasty / 1368 - 1644 A.D."
