Two barefoot peasants are locked together in a fight. The one that wears a hat is wielding a walking staff in his right hand as a weapon. He holds the other peasant’s left foot in his hand. A small dog grips his left leg and bites at his tunic. The other peasant claws at the face of the first with his left hand. He is off balance because his left leg is raised and the first peasant has his left foot. The second peasant has what may be a musical instrument tied to his belt on his right side. The figures stand on an oval of ivory carved on top of an ivory octagon. The octagon fits into a tall, stepped octagonal wooden base.
