The Right Reverend Staunton Batty, Bishop of Fulham, addresses the congregation at the traditional New Year's Day service in the ruins of St. Anne and St. Agnes Church at London, January 14, 1941. The service maintained a 300-year-old custom, in which the Worshipful Company of Cordwainers congregate at the church for services and make grants to twelve of London's oldest shoemakers. The church was gutted in the fire bomb raid of December 29.
