Straw boss at work on Guadalcanal: Serving as a straw boss for a crew of Guadalcanal local people, PFC Roy K. Ballou of Omaha, Nebraska supervises “his wire gang”. They tend the reels that pays out the copper wire as it is drawn over the cross arms of the new poles of a Guadalcanal telephone line, July 1943.
