Twelve coffins draped with the Stars and Stripes rest in a cemetery at Munsingen, Switzerland, during burial of American flyers killed in action or crashes. Burial with full military honors was April 28. A theological student, Tracy Strong, Jr., native of Seattle and former resident of New York, stands at left with part of the group of interned American aviators. A Swiss rifle platoon and Swiss civilian onlookers are in the rear. This photo was taken by Lt. Thomas Carver of Alameda, California, one of the U.S. internees, c. 1940-1947.
