Calm Outside, Troubled Within: The community Poplarville, Mississippi is troubled in the wake of the lynching of 23-year-old black man Charles Mack Parker. He was dragged out of jail after being charged with raping a pregnant white woman. The general feeling expressed by townspeople is a hope that authorities never catch the men who lynched Parker.

Materials
Ferrotyped prints have a sensitive surface, usually shiny and thinner, because they are put through a press while still wet. Ferrotyping makes the surface of the photograph smoother. Light does not scatter as much on a smoother surface, so this increases contrast. That makes ferrotyped images better for press photography.
