Commentary
Children who are being bused to integrate the school system seen in a Berkeley school science class. School district officials deliberately chose integration by busing to symbolize total school desegregation in the town. Pictured: the class terrarium gets close scrutiny from these science students in Emerson, California.

Marks
On verso: manuscript title, date stamps and newspaper caption affixed.

Materials
Ferrotyped prints have a sensitive surface, usually shiny and thinner, because they are put through a press while still wet. Ferrotyping makes the surface of the photograph smoother. Light does not scatter as much on a smoother surface, so this increases contrast. That makes ferrotyped images better for press photography.
