Commentary
“Ike” Gives Christmas Message: One soldier was called to hear General Dwight Eisenhower’s Christmas message, which they took back to their commanders. Included in the group were several Americans, BM David Sorima, Homewood, PA.; S/SGT. Albin Lee, 453rd Bomb Squadron, Ninth Air force; T/5 Troy Loftes, 3906 Q.M. Truck Company; Sargent Charles F. Helfreich, Seventh Armored Division, of Richmond Hill, New York, December 28, 1944.

Technique
Ferrotyped prints are processed in such a way that they are shiny. The print has a sensitive surface, usually thinner, because it was put through a press while still wet.

Materials
Ferrotyped prints have a sensitive surface, usually shiny and thinner, because they are put through a press while still wet. Ferrotyping makes the surface of the photograph smoother. Light does not scatter as much on a smoother surface, so this increases contrast. That makes ferrotyped images better for press photography.
