Commentary
Production still of Beverly Cannon and Teddy Smith for an ABC documentary program titled, "Black Fiddler: Prejudice and the Negro". The documentary focuses on a production of "Fiddler on the Roof" performed by black students at a junior high school in Ocean Hill-Brownsville and the controversy surrounding it. Discussion of contemporary teachers' strikes in Brownsville is interwoven, featuring interviews with and speeches by Albert Shanker, head of the United Federation of Teachers.

Marks
On verso: manuscript title, date stamp and typewritten label with title and date affixed.

Materials
Ferrotyped prints have a sensitive surface, usually shiny and thinner, because they are put through a press while still wet. Ferrotyping makes the surface of the photograph smoother. Light does not scatter as much on a smoother surface, so this increases contrast. That makes ferrotyped images better for press photography.
