The Martinsyde Plane Ready to Cross Atlantic: The Martinsyde plane seen a few minutes before she hopped off on her trans-Atlantic flight. Just as she was leaving the ground, she crashed into a rocky cliff, injuring aviators Rynham and Morgan. The damage to the plane has been repaired, and she is now waiting for favorable weather conditions to attempt the flight.

Martinsyde Ltd. became Britain's third largest aircraft manufacturer during World War I, with flight sheds at Brooklands and a large factory in nearby Woking.
