Commentary
Here is the end of the road for Belgium’s resistance to invasion. Sleeping on their gun caissons, gallant troops are retreating toward the Channel, shortly before their commander, King Leopold, surrendered to the Germans. Time will tell whether his act was prophetic of the fate of all Europe’s little nations.
