New Occupations for Crippled Soldiers! Disabled heroes who lost limbs or were otherwise disabled in the Great War are all receiving special treatment and training to make them useful and self-supporting. This scene is in one of the clinics. The device is straightening the wrist and arm that was injured at Château-Thierry.

The Battle of Château-Thierry was fought on May 31, 1918. It was one of the first actions of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) under General John J. "Black Jack" Pershing. It was part of the Second Battle of the Marne, initially prompted by a German Spring Offensive. German and local actions at Château-Thierry recommenced on May 31 - July 22, 1918, against the AEF, which consisted of troops from both United States Army and Marine Corps units. These units were the newest troops on the front in France and were just barely out of training.
