Commentary
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. seated during the annual summer session banquet at Syracuse University. King gave a speech to more than 1,000 people, during which he outlined what he termed a "broad-based and gigantic bill of rights" to help the "disadvantaged" children on the nation. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929-1968) was an American Baptist minister and activist who became the most visible spokesperson and leader in the Civil Rights Movement from 1954 until his assassination in 1968.
