David Hilliard (bottom), Chief of Staff of the Black Panther Party, Georgia legislator Julian Bond (left), and Reverend Andrew Young of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference interviewed on the ABC News "NOW" series presentation, "The Panthers". "The Panthers" tries to answer the question: What effect and influence do the Black Panthers have on black Americans?

Julian Bond (1940-2015) became a Civil Rights activist while in college. In 1965, he was elected to Georgia's state legislature, but his opposition to the war in Vietnam meant that it would take a U.S. Supreme Court ruling for him to be allowed to take his seat. Bond later served as the head of the Southern Poverty Law Center and of the NAACP. Andrew Young (1932-present) is an American politician, diplomat, and activist. Young was an early leader in the Civil Rights Movement, serving as Executive Director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). He was a close confidant of Martin Luther King, Jr.

David Hilliard (1942- present) was a member of the Black Panther Party. He was Chief of Staff in the party. He became a visiting instructor at the University of New Mexico in 2006. He also is the founder of the Dr. Huey P. Newton foundation.

Ferrotyped prints have a sensitive surface, usually shiny and thinner, because they are put through a press while still wet. Ferrotyping makes the surface of the photograph smoother. Light does not scatter as much on a smoother surface, so this increases contrast. That makes ferrotyped images better for press photography.
